Pricing Actuary / Analyst
Reporting to Pricing Manager

The  Aviva Pricing department aims to deliver sound technical prices for Personal, Commercial and Health Products. The team of actuaries, trainee actuaries and specialists develops and maintains market leading pricing structures using the latest actuarial and statistical techniques. Working with Product, Distribution and Marketing colleagues they provide pricing solutions for new initiatives and to current business problems.

Role

  • Responsible for delivering assessments of overall rate adequacy, for both Personal, Commercial and Health accounts
  • Develop market leading pricing structures using GLM (Generalised Linear Modelling) techniques and implement the results into prices to drive competitive advantage
  • Create, develop and implement robust pricing processes
  • Lead actuarial projects and review technical work
  • Working as part of a team with the relevant product manager, develop new products and solutions to business problems and in particular the pricing thereof
  • Contribution to the development of Pricing best practice for the Aviva Group

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following attributes:

  • Strong technical actuarial/statistical skills. Previous G.I. or Health actuarial experience will be a definite advantage
  • The successful candidate is likely to be a nearly or newly qualified actuary or a graduate of a numerate or business degree with GI or Health Pricing experience
  • Strong IT skills with experience of SAS, Emblem, Rate Assessor, Optimiser, ResQ, MS Excel and general programming a definite advantage
  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to develop solutions to unfamiliar problems both independently and as part of a wider team
  • Strong communication skills and in particular an ability to communicate complex issues clearly
  • Highly motivated to produce accurate work whilst under pressure and to tight timescales
  • Achievement orientated with a desire to drive change

Job Title:    Manager, Financial Management and Actuarial, Internal Audit

Reports to: Head of Audit, Financial Management & Actuarial (UK Life & Ireland)

Business Unit: Actuarial function within Internal Audit

Location: Dublin (with some travel)


Role Purpose:

Under guidance of the Head of FM&A Audit (UK Life and Ireland), the role will have responsibility for the delivery for a wide range of financial management & actuarial audit reviews, ranging from actuarial reporting and product pricing to financial and insurance risk management.
The position will not have any direct reports but will have access to a pool of resources for large audits (internal or external resources).


Duties:
· Stakeholder management at a senior management level.
· Development of  risk based reviews for actuarial related processes across a number of business units, with an appreciation of enterprise risk management. 
· Participate in or lead reviews for across UK Life and Ireland Business, and sometimes other business units outside of the UK.
· Provide quality assurance on technical or specialist reviews.
· Provide technical support and training to colleagues throughout Internal Audit.
· Provide ongoing support and consultation with businesses’ management in relation to issue tracking and closure.
· Manage relationships with relevant External Audit resources.

Travel:

There will be a particular focus on the local Aviva market  with some travel to Aviva UK Life (based in York).

Very occasionally there may be travel to other locations in Aviva

Qualifications:

A Qualified Actuary (with a number of years of relevant post qualification experience for a Senior Manager role), or a relevant professional qualification matched by comparable experience.

· Extensive business knowledge – recognised expert in the relevant business area (actuarial and/or financial management).
· Commercial and strategic awareness.
· Mental agility and decision making skills.
· Project planning/management skills to support complex technical and business reviews.
· Ability to prioritise and progress multiple workstreams side by side.
· Strong service delivery focus.
· Has provided advice or expertise in respect of technically complex actuarial and financial business processes.
· Evidence of proven career track record and consistent record of achievement.
· Sensitive to cultural diversity. Advanced written & spoken English language essential. Other language skills preferable but not essential.

As a Data analyst you will cover:

  • Campaign management through targeting definition, execution and results

  • Marketing customer data management

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Supporting Direct and Indirect business teams’ data requirements through ad-hoc counts and analysis
  • Carrying out detailed campaign evaluations using customer data to learn and develop optimal campaign mix to drive commercial targets. You will analyse and report on marketing campaigns for the team
  • Profiling and selection of customer marketing database extracts and prospect lists for our Direct and Broker channels. Profiling of customer data to drive insights into consumer behaviour
  • Database marketing including data collection and usage, suppressions and outputs
  • Identifying gaps in our data and ensure relevant enhancements to the data repository are made
  • Monitoring and maintaining the quality of database systems by ensuring data loads to customer database are performed on time and correctly
  • Management of internal stakeholders on data projects and engagement with third party suppliers on data projects
  • Sharing data knowledge with other departments eg. Pricing and other database users
  • Supporting segmentation requirements at local and European level
  • Assisting in other channel activities and projects as required

Experience
  • 3 years marketing experience with a specific focus on data base marketing and data mining (preferably in financial services)
  • Solid experience of database analytical tools and database marketing techniques

Key Skills, Knowledge & Competencies
  • Strong technical skills - working knowledge of Excel, Access, coupled with a general understanding on campaign management and analytical tools (eg Alterian based engines or similar), statistical software (eg SAS, SPSS), database architecture, data-mining techniques, models and data warehousing
